How to Reset a B-hyve Timer, Hub or Controller
How to reset B-hyve: a reboot, a Wi-Fi reconnection, deauthorization and a factory reset are four different procedures. Pick the right one.
There is no single "reset" for B-hyve. A reboot restarts the device, a Wi-Fi reconnection puts it on a network again, deauthorization removes it from your account, and a factory reset returns it to its original state. Start with the mildest option that fits your problem.
Which procedure do I need?
| Procedure | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Reboot | Restarts the device | The device is offline or acting oddly |
| Wi-Fi reconnection | Joins the device to a network again | The router or Wi-Fi password changed |
| Deauthorization | Removes the device from the account and server association | You are moving the device to another account or re-pairing |
| Factory reset | Returns the device to its original settings | Support or the manual for your model tells you to |
How do I reboot a B-hyve?
Orbit's troubleshooting article gives these examples.
- Underground timers (sprinkler controllers): disconnect power for 30 seconds, then reconnect.
- Hose timers: remove the battery tray for 15 to 20 seconds, then reinstall it fully.
Rebooting does not by itself change your account or network settings.
How do I reconnect to Wi-Fi?
Use the B-hyve app to set the device up on the new network. Have these ready:
- The new Wi-Fi name and password.
- Bluetooth turned on for your phone or tablet.
- The right band for your model: the XR supports 2.4 and 5 GHz, and the 57925 uses 2.4 GHz.
For a hose timer, the Wi-Fi network belongs to the hub, so reconnect the hub. See B-hyve not connecting to Wi-Fi. The exact in-app menu names vary by model and app version, so follow the app prompts and your manual.
What does deauthorization do?
Orbit states that deauthorizing a device removes it from the account and server association. To use it again, you must pair it again. Do not deauthorize a device just because it is offline, since a reboot is usually enough to try first.
How do I factory reset a B-hyve?
The sources reviewed for this site do not give factory reset steps, button combinations or timing for any model. Because the procedure differs by controller, hub and timer, use the manual for your exact model: find it in the Orbit manual library, or ask support. A factory reset may erase schedules, so write down your programs first if you can.
Does a hub reset affect my timers?
Matching matters more than resetting. A Gen 1 hub works only with Gen 1 hose timers. XD timers, Gen 2 timers and flood sensors need a Gen 2 hub. If you replace or reset a hub, you may need to pair the timers to it again. Check the manual for your hub model: 21006 for Gen 1, 21027 for Gen 2 (which Orbit says is the same hub as 21008).
