Why Is My B-hyve Offline?
B-hyve offline usually means a Wi-Fi, hub or power problem. Check the network, reboot the device, and know what keeps watering without internet.
A B-hyve device shows offline when it cannot reach the internet. The usual causes are a changed router or Wi-Fi password, a weak signal at the device, a hub that is unplugged or out of range, or a device that needs a reboot. Reboot first, then reconnect to Wi-Fi only if the network changed.
What should I check first?
Orbit's guidance points to a short list:
- Did the home network or router change recently?
- Did the Wi-Fi password change?
- Is the device on the right band for its model? See Which Wi-Fi band does my B-hyve use?.
- Is Bluetooth on for your phone or tablet, if you are using it to set up or reconnect?
For hose timers, is the hub online?
Bluetooth hose timers go online through a matching Wi-Fi hub. If the hub is unplugged, moved far from the timer, or off your network, the timers look offline even though they are fine. A Gen 1 hub works only with Gen 1 hose timers. XD timers, Gen 2 timers and flood sensors need a Gen 2 hub. Hubs are for indoor use.
How do I reboot?
Rebooting restarts the device and keeps its setup.
- Underground timer or controller: disconnect power for 30 seconds, then reconnect.
- Hose timer: remove the battery tray for 15 to 20 seconds, then reinstall it fully.
Do not confuse this with Wi-Fi reconnection, deauthorization or factory reset. See How to reset a B-hyve timer, hub or controller.
Does B-hyve keep watering when it is offline?
Orbit states that the 57925 retains schedules in internal memory and continues running stored schedules during an internet interruption. Do not assume every model behaves the same way, and do not expect fresh weather updates without internet. Hose timers can still be operated locally over Bluetooth from a nearby phone. Remote access needs the hub. See Can B-hyve work without Wi-Fi?.
Some App Store reviewers say watering stopped after their connection was lost and that the app did not warn them. Reports like these are not model-specific. If your yard matters, check the app after an outage and confirm the next scheduled run.
What do owners report?
From App Store reviews, paraphrased:
- Signal loss a couple of times a month that clears after unplugging the unit.
- A controller that says it is connected, while the app times out on commands.
- A "connection required" message that does not clear with the in-app troubleshooting button.
- Notifications that say watering happened when it did not, on a device that kept dropping offline.
These are owner experiences, not confirmed causes. Other owners report solid connections.
Does a firmware update matter?
Some hose-end firmware updates require the phone to stay within Bluetooth range. Do not expect every update to finish remotely through the hub.
