What Is B-hyve?
What is B-hyve? It is Orbit's smart watering system: app-connected sprinkler controllers, hose faucet timers, Wi-Fi hubs and flood sensors.
B-hyve is the name Orbit uses for its smart watering and water-management ecosystem. It combines irrigation hardware, a free mobile app and, on connected setups, weather-responsive watering. B-hyve is not a separate company from Orbit.
This site is an independent B-hyve resource and is not run by Orbit.
What products are part of B-hyve?
| Product type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sprinkler controller | Operates the valves of an installed sprinkler or drip system |
| Hose faucet timer | Sits between an outdoor faucet and a hose or hose-fed watering setup |
| Wi-Fi hub | Adds remote access and connected functions to compatible Bluetooth hose timers |
| Flood sensor | Detects a water or flood condition |
Orbit also names Flume flow meters and Guardian shutoff products as integrations in the wider ecosystem. They are separate from the B-hyve controllers and timers.
Controllers come in indoor, indoor/outdoor and B-hyve XR versions. Hose timers come as single-outlet timers and B-hyve XD multi-outlet timers. See the sprinkler controllers, hose timers and hubs sections for the lineup.
What does the B-hyve app do?
The B-hyve app is free for iPhone and Android. Depending on the model and setup, it lets you:
- Create custom watering programs.
- Turn on smart watering.
- Run zones manually.
- Set up and configure zones.
- Apply weather-related delays.
- See watering activity and notifications on supported configurations.
Read how to set up the B-hyve app for the first steps.
What is the difference between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi control?
Compatible hose timers can be programmed from a nearby phone over Bluetooth, with no Wi-Fi. That is local control only.
For remote access, notifications, watering history and WeatherSense smart watering, a matching B-hyve hub is needed. Some sprinkler controllers, such as the 57925 indoor controller and the B-hyve XR, have Wi-Fi built in and do not need a hub.
Hub generation matters. Gen 1 hose timers need the Gen 1 hub. XD timers, Gen 2 timers and flood sensors need a Gen 2 hub. See Can B-hyve work without Wi-Fi? for details.
What is smart watering on B-hyve?
Orbit calls its weather feature WeatherSense. It checks local weather and uses your zone information to decide when and how long to water. On supported connected setups it can delay watering for rain, freezing temperatures or high wind. This is different from running a fixed schedule from your phone. See What is B-hyve smart watering?.
What does B-hyve work with?
Orbit's app and product pages list Alexa support, and Orbit publishes instructions for linking B-hyve through Google Home. Support varies by model, so check the manual for your exact model.
The sources used for this site do not establish official support for Apple HomeKit, Matter, a public developer API or native Home Assistant integration.
Who owns B-hyve?
B-hyve is Orbit's product line. Husqvarna Group announced an agreement to acquire Orbit Irrigation in October 2021. See Who makes B-hyve?.
