Who Makes B-hyve? Orbit, Hydro-Rain and Husqvarna Explained

Orbit makes B-hyve. B-hyve is Orbit's name for its smart watering ecosystem, and Orbit is the consumer watering brand behind it. In 2021 Husqvarna Group announced it would acquire Orbit Irrigation.

This site is an independent B-hyve resource. It is not run by Orbit, Gardena or Husqvarna, and it does not provide support or warranty service.

Is B-hyve made by Orbit?

Yes. On the Apple App Store, the B-hyve app lists Orbit Irrigation as developer and Orbit Irrigation Products Inc. as seller. Orbit's own product pages, manuals and support articles cover B-hyve controllers, hose timers, hubs and flood sensors.

Where does Husqvarna come in?

On October 26, 2021, Husqvarna Group announced an agreement to acquire Orbit Irrigation and said Orbit would become part of its Gardena Division. The announcement described B-hyve as Orbit's suite of smart products and reported 1.4 million connected devices at that time.

Two cautions:

• The 1.4 million figure is from October 2021. It is not a current number.
• The announcement describes an agreement. It does not by itself give the closing date.

Orbit, Gardena, Husqvarna Group and B-hyve are not interchangeable product names. B-hyve devices are sold under the Orbit and B-hyve names.

What is Hydro-Rain's role?

Hydro-Rain appears in two places in the sources:

• The B-hyve app listing says it is also a homeowner companion app for Hydro-Rain B-hyve Pro Wi-Fi controllers.
• Orbit's controller copy says the controllers work with standard 24 VAC valves from Orbit, Hydro-Rain and other major brands.

The sources do not explain the corporate relationship between Orbit and Hydro-Rain in more detail, so this page does not either.

Is B-hyve Pro the same as B-hyve?

No. B-hyve Pro is a related professional irrigation platform with its own app for landscape professionals. The consumer B-hyve app is the one homeowners use. See B-hyve App vs B-hyve Pro.

Who covers the warranty and support?

Orbit does. Orbit support states that B-hyve devices carry a two-year warranty when purchased from an authorized dealer. Amazon listings for B-hyve controllers describe a two-year limited warranty against material or workmanship defects for private use.
